SceneID is a single sign-in system (similar to google, apple or facebook login), it is managed by Scene.org Ry, a non-profit focused on promoting and archiving demoscene productions. It follows common privacy protection best practices, does not sell your data to any 3rd party and is used by multiple demoscene related websites.

tl;dr: it might look dodgy to new users but it is a legitimate login system and is probably safer then us storing your email and password on our own database.
